The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Jammu and Kashmir administration seeking a reply on a petition against detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) imposed on Mehbooba Mufti. This petition has been filed by Mehbooba's daughter Iltija Mufti. After which the court has summoned the answer.

According to media reports, a bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra asked Iltija Mufti, the daughter of PDP chief, to give an affidavit. The bench has asked her to give information about challenging her mother's detention and have not filed any other petition before the judicial forum, including the High Court.

In its petition, Iltija has challenged the government's order to file a case under PSA against Mehbooba Mufti on 5 February. The next hearing of the case will be held on 18 March. Earlier, the same bench had issued notice to the Jammu and Kashmir administration on a similar petition filed against the case filed under PSA on former Chief Minister Umar Abdullah. This petition has been filed by his sister Sara Abdullah Pilot. The court has directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to file a reply by 2 March. Sara filed a petition in the Supreme Court on 10 February. It termed the case filed under PSA on Umar illegal.
