New Delhi: Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told that a special committee has been constituted to review the situation on the issue of starting 4G internet service in Jammu and Kashmir. It demanded contempt action against the government for violating the order of the High court, the Solicitor General told the High court that a special committee has been formed as per the previous order of the Supreme Court.

He told that this committee will inspect the situation in each district and find out where 4G service can be restored. Citing terrorist activities and security of the country, the government had said in the High court that providing 4G service in Jammu and Kashmir would be fatal. For this, a PIL was filed in the High court, which said that 4G is very much needed for studies, medical services, and business, etc, because this work is not possible with 2G service.

Currently, only 2G service is available in Jammu and Kashmir. After hearing this PIL, the High court had ordered the government to constitute a special committee, which, while balancing the needs of the people in the state and the security of the country will look into the need 4G network in each district of the state.
