ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has strictly refused to hear the application of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf challenging the death penalty in the sedition issue. While returning the petition, the court said that till he does not surrender, he will not be allowed to appeal. Where Musharraf filed an application in the apex court on Thursday, January 16, 2020, the demand of the special court was quashed. On December 17, Musharraf was convicted of treason and sentenced to death by a special court formed on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Surrender to be done within a month: According to information received from sources, it has been learned that the Supreme Court Registrar's Office on Friday returned the plea of former military ruler Musharraf with the remark that the convict surrendered before the appeal. The Supreme Court granted a month's moratorium to remove this objection. This means that Musharraf will have to surrender within a month. If he does not, he will lose the right to appeal.

The 90-page application was filed: For your information, let us tell you that the 74-year-old former army chief, Musharraf, through his lawyer Salman Safdar, has submitted a 90-page petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday, January 16, 2020. It is also being said that Musharraf's absence in the special court was not intentional. He was unable to appear in court due to ill health. Despite Musharraf being deemed ailing, the special court pronounced the verdict in his absence. Earlier on Monday, the Lahore High Court had declared the special court's decision as unconstitutional on Musharraf's appeal.
