Hyderabad scam: Supreme court asks for report of encounter case in 6 months

Hyderabad: Recently, the Supreme Court on Thursday heard the case of Telangana encounter. Chief Justice SA Bobde has ordered the formation of an independent inquiry commission, which will consist of 3 members. The commission will be headed by Justice VS Sirpurkar, retired judge of the apex court. This commission will have to submit its investigation report within 6 months. All the 3 members of the commission of inquiry will be provided with the security of CRPF. The case was heard by a bench of Justices SA Bobde, Justice S Abdul Nazir and Justice Sanjeev Khanna.

The case is being heard in the Supreme Court of killing 4 accused in a police encounter accused of gang rape with a veterinary doctor in Telangana. In this case, Chief Justice (CJI) Justice SA Bobde said, 'Our view is that there should be an independent investigation into the encounter.' CJI Bobde said,' If you say that you are going to prosecute them (the policemen involved in the encounter) in criminal court, then there is nothing for us to do. But if you say that he is innocent then people should know the truth. We do not want to imagine facts.

In a report, the CJI said to senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who is favoring the Telangana police, that we are not saying that you are guilty. We are ordering a 3-member commission of inquiry and you will participate in it. The inquiry will be headed by retired Justice VS Sirpurkar. All the members will get the protection of CRPF. The court said that no other court or officer will investigate the case until the court's next order.
