New Delhi: On Friday, the Supreme court has given important instructions in the case of the killing of two fishermen from Kerala by two Italian marines. The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to deposit the amount of ten crores of compensation to the families of the fishermen. The Supreme Court has said that the Center should give the amount in the registry, after that the court itself will give this amount to the victims. Along with this, the Chief Justice has clarified in the hearing that until the compensation amount is received, the trial against Italian marines will not be canceled.
In fact, during the hearing on Friday, the Central Government and the Government of Kerala informed the Supreme Court that the compensation amount received by the Italian Government will be given to the family of the deceased, the owner of the boat. However, it has not been decided yet whether the crew member will get the compensation amount or not. The Supreme court later asked to pay the money to the registry of the court, on which the government has asked to deposit the money within three days. Now this case will be heard on April 19 in the Supreme Court.
Let us know that in the year 2012, two Italian marines fired on two fishermen from Kerala along the Indian coast. Both the fishermen were killed in this shootout. Since then, the issue of trial and compensation was going on against the Italian marines.
