Unitech buyers case: Central government to take over Unitech, new CMD to be appointed

New Delhi: The verdict of the top court has come out in the Unitech Buyers case. According to the order, the central government will take over Unitech. Former IAS YS owner of Haryana has been appointed as the new CMD of Unitech. The top court has created a new board of 7 members of Unitech. The top court will not conduct a hearing in the Unitech Buyers case for 2 months and the ongoing investigation against the owners of Unitech will not stop.

It is noteworthy that in the end of December, the news was revealed that the real estate company Unitech had given a big blow to the top court. Keeping in mind the interests of about 30 thousand home buyers, the Supreme Court had asked the central government to take over the management of the company. The court also directed the government to investigate the matter from all agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate, after the forensic report revealed that Unitech and its directors had transferred thousands of crores of rupees to the flat buyers.

The bench had also refused to grant bail to Unitech directors Chandra brothers, the apex court had asked the government to appoint independent directors of Unitech to become independent directors. The apex court had asked Attorney General KK Venugopal to take action in this regard to the concerned authority of the central government.
