The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday refused to hear the petition challenging the Delhi High Court's order granting it the order on a petition seeking to link social media accounts with Aadhaar, PAN and voter ID. The High Court was requested to give this instruction to remove the fake account of social media. The High Court had said that this would unnecessarily move the data of people with real accounts abroad.

In its statement, a bench of Justice L Nageswara Rao allowed the petitioner, lawyer and BJP leader Ashwani Upadhyay to make himself a party to the transfer petition in such cases filed by the Center in the apex court. The lawyer argued through video conferencing that the Center had earlier demanded the transfer of such cases from some high courts to the apex court.

The bench said, we do not see any reason to interfere in the order challenging the order of the High Court. In this way, the special leave petition is dismissed. However, the petitioner is allowed to file an application to be made a party to the transfer case. Upadhyay had said in his petition that 20 percent accounts on social media are fake or fake. It is necessary to detect such account and remove fake account. Members of the bench included Justice Krishna Murari and Justice S Ravindra Bhatt.
