New Delhi: A petition was heard in the country's largest court on Friday on a mosque to be built on five acres of land in Ram Nagri Ayodhya. The court appealed that government representatives should be included in the 'Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation' trust which built the mosque. However, the apex court has dismissed this petition.
The petitioner demanded that just as the government has a stake in the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, the same should be done in the trust related to the mosque. However, the Supreme Court refused to accept these arguments. After the decision of Ram Janmabhoomi, the Supreme Court had said to give five acres of land for the mosque in Ayodhya itself. The mosque is to be constructed in Dhannipur, Ayodhya.
The mosque is being constructed under the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation. The trust had informed after its first meeting in the past that a mosque, Indo-Islamic research centre, library and hospital will be built here. A total of 15 people will be included in the Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation Trust, in which some will also be nominated. The Trust had clarified that the mosque would not be named after Babar.
