The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that Adani Power Ltd will not be granted any additional relief in the compensating tariff dispute with the Rajasthan government's power distribution companies over the increased cost of imported coal.

The court stated on Tuesday that the three power distribution companies had already paid Adani Power 59.9 billion rupees in accordance with orders dated August 31, 2020 and February 25, this year, which had directed the money to be released. However, Adani Power claims that it owes another 13 billion rupees in late payment surcharges, which the court indicated it can pursue in other relevant forums.

Meanwhile, electricity distribution companies claimed on Tuesday that no penalty should be imposed from November of last year because domestic coal has been accessible since then and no demand for imports has arisen. This problem, according to the apex court, is outside the scope of the current case.
