New Delhi: The Supreme Court has summoned the Chief Secretaries of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in view of the serious situation of air pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas. Taking suo moto cognizance on Tuesday, the apex court registered a new case, which will be heard today. A special bench of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Deepak Gupta will hear the matter named 'Concerning levels of air pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas' along with other matters under consideration of pollution.

At the same time, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) said that air quality has not deteriorated in just one day. This is the result of constant neglect in implementing the law. Along with this, the NGT has suggested authorities use drones to curb the burning of garbage. A bench of NGT chairman Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel took the hearing on Tuesday, taking cognizance of media reports on air pollution.

Meanwhile, the bench expressed concern over the incidents of burning of garbage in Delhi and said, what is lacking in the implementation of the law? People are burning garbage in the open, we have seen with our own eyes. A permanent solution to this problem has to be found. This can be prevented by using technology. Drones can be used to prevent waste burning. With the help of drones, one can easily locate the places where garbage is burnt in the open.
