Supreme Court takes major decision on pending cases in courts across the country

New Delhi: A large number of cases are pending in the country's courts. The High Courts also have a long history of cases, which are pending. Now the Supreme Court has taken a major decision on speedy disposal of pending cases in the High Court. The Supreme court has said that a judge can be appointed on ad hoc basis for speedy disposal of pending cases in high courts. The Chief Justice of the High Court will be able to appoint a retired high court judge on an ad hoc basis.

The Supreme court also said that the Chief Justice of the High Court will appoint a retired judge on an ad-hoc basis when he feels that the pendency of cases has gone up considerably. The number of pending cases has become so large that it will not be possible to dispose of them without the appointment of additional judges. The Supreme Court has also clarified a point on a retired judge.

The Supreme Court in its judgment has also clarified that the retired judge will not interfere in the administrative matters of the High Court. The Supreme court has also asked the Union Law Ministry to work closely with the high courts on the appointment of judges. The Supreme court has also directed to submit its progress report on it within four months.
