New Delhi:  Some very important ancillary legal issues were sent to the Constitution Bench of 11 judges for the verdict before the final hearing on the petitions filed in the Supreme Court of the country against the decision of the High Court of Maharashtra Government to uphold the Maratha reservation law. The hearing, which lasted for three days, was incomplete on Friday.

More than 75,000 new corona cases reported for the third consecutive day in India

The next hearing in the Supreme Court will be held on September 1. The petition filed in the Supreme Court said that the Constitution Bench of nine judges in Indira Sawhney case decided that reservation cannot exceed 50 percent. Reservation in this case has crossed the 50 percent limit, so the matter should be referred to a larger constitution bench.

2700 new cases of Covid19 reported in five days in Uttarakhand

The bench of Justice L. Nageswara Rao, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice S. Ravindra Bhat heard the matter. The bench has also fixed September 1 as to when to hold the final hearing on the main petitions and whether or not an interim adjournment will be held. In such a situation, it seems that the decision of the Supreme Court on that day will be important and the future of Maratha reservation will be determined on that.
