Supreme Court to hear petition of Pervez Musharraf, know the whole case

Islamabad: Pakistan's Supreme Court will hear on Monday an application filed by the country's former President General Pervez Musharraf, which supreme court registered refused to accept his plea against the decision of the special court. The special court had found him guilty of treason and sentenced life imprisonment.

Per The Express Tribune reported, Pervez Musharraf filed an appeal in the Supreme Court in January, seeking to overturn the decision of the special court. The Registrar's Office had dismissed the petition on the ground that unless the petitioner himself surrendered, his appeal could not be considered.

Order 23, Rule 8 of the Rules of the Supreme Court, 1980, empowers that the Surpeme Court will not accept any of its pleas until the guilty surrenders before the authorities. Musharraf's lawyer then decided to file an appeal against the registrar's decision. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed will hear arguments on appeal in his chamber on Monday.
