New Delhi: The country's largest court on Thursday termed the situation related to the coronavirus in the country as a national emergency. The hearing was agreed to by the Vedanta group to open Sterlite Copper plant in Tamil Nadu on the basis of production of thousands of tonnes of oxygen and its free supply to patients, which will be heard today. 

The Bench of Chief Justice (CJI) SA Bobde did not accept the objection of the Tamil Nadu government, which initially opposed the hearing of Vedanta's petition on Monday and opened it on various grounds and also said that the Supreme Court as such The request has been rejected earlier. The bench said that we will ensure that the plant complies with all environmental regulations. Its oxygen production unit will be allowed to function. We are on the issue of oxygen plant.

The bench said in a hearing through video conferencing, 'There is almost a national emergency in the country. We will hear Vedanta's petition on Friday. Explain that the court has asked the central government to answer four points'. The Center has said that the government should have the authority to supply oxygen, supply of essential, the procedure of vaccination, and lockdown only to the state government and not to the court… to respond to them.
