Today Supreme court has given the main reason to members of LGBTQ groups to celebrate the day as, after months of deliberations, the Supreme Court struck down the Section 377 of the IPC which criminalized homosexuality. After the decision, the happiness can be seen on the face of LGBTQ members and they are celebrating this decision by dancing on the streets.

Congress senior leader Shashi Tharoor said that he is pleased to welcome SC decision to decriminalize consensual acts of adults in private. The United Nation in India also welcomes the decision and said that it hopes that the court’s ruling will be the first step towards guaranteeing the full range of fundamental rights to LGBTI persons. The organization further added this decision will boost efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination against LGBTI persons in all areas of social, economic, cultural and political activity, thereby ensuring a truly inclusive society.
