Ahmedabad: After eight years of marriage, if someone comes to know that her husband used to be a woman earlier, what will that woman go through? This is not a story, but a true incident, which has come to light from Vadodara in Gujarat. A 40-year-old woman here, after eight years of marriage, found out that her husband was a woman first and had recently become a man after undergoing a sex change operation.
In an FIR lodged at Gotri police station in Vadodara, Mamta (name changed) has accused her husband Viraj Vardhan (earlier Vijayta) of having "unnatural sex" and cheating. The woman has also named her in-laws in her complaint. According to media reports, Mamta has told the police that nine years ago she met Viraj Vardhan through a matrimonial website. Her ex-husband had died in a road accident, after which she was living with her 14-year-old daughter.
Mamta said she married Viraj in 2014 in the presence of family members and also went to Kashmir for their honeymoon. According to the report, "Viraj did not have physical relations with Mamta for several days. He kept making a variety of excuses about it. When Mamta put pressure on him, he claimed that he could not have sex due to an accident with him in Russia a few years ago.''
Viraj said in January 2020 that he was going to Kolkata for bariatric surgery to reduce obesity. However, he later said that he had gone to Kolkata to undergo an operation to transplant male organs. The woman has alleged that the accused had unnatural sex with her and threatened that if she told anyone in this regard, the consequences would be very bad. Gotri police inspector MK Gurjar said the accused is a resident of Delhi and has been brought to Vadodara.
