Surat: A day after stones were thrown at a Ganeshotsav pandal in Surat, Gujarat, Hindu locals and organizations demanded bulldozer action against the arrested accused. Members of various Hindu organizations gathered at the local police station, raising slogans in support of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and calling for strict administrative measures similar to those implemented by him in various cases.
In response, the local administration in Sayedpura, Surat, initiated bulldozer action to demolish illegal properties belonging to the accused. Videos of this action have been circulating on social media, with praise directed towards Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi. The incidents occurred on September 7 and 8, when stones were thrown at a Ganeshotsav pandal in the Lal Gate area. Reports indicate that some Muslim minors were involved, prompting a large protest by Hindus demanding stringent action. The police responded swiftly, making 27 arrests and increasing security in the area.
The stone-pelting reportedly happened in the Variyali Bazar area of Lal Gate, leading to heightened tensions. Hindu groups alleged that stones were also thrown from nearby mosques. Yagnesh Patel, a Bajrang Dal activist, claimed that stones were thrown at police during their investigation. Gujarat Home Affairs Minister Harsh Sanghvi assured prompt action on the incident via a post on X, stating that 27 individuals had been arrested and promising further strict measures. The bulldozer action in Sayedpura is ongoing, with efforts to maintain peace in the area.
