NEW DELHI: A day after ministry of external affairs eased certain rules for passport application, Union minister of external affairs Sushma Swaraj has sought feedback on new rules to be followed while applying for an Indian passport on Saturday.

On Friday, MEA announced new provisions aiming to streamline and easing the passport application process. Under the new norms, ministry announced that Aadhar and E-aadhar card will be considered as proof of date of birth from now. Before, this all applicants had to mandatorily submit their birth certificates as proof of date of birth.

Government also declared to relax norms pertaining passport application including the requirement of proving names of both parents. The passport application form now requires the applicant to provide the name of father or mother or legal guardian, that is, only one parent and not both.

Adding to this, now, Sadhus and sanyasis can now mention the names of their spiritual gurus instead of biological parents.

"We have made significant changes in the Passport rules. I would like to have your feedback pl. #PassportRules(SIC)," she said in a tweet.
