Suspect in the Annecy knife attack brought before French judge

Paris: According to BFM television, the suspect in a knife attack that left four toddlers and two elderly people injured in the southern French town of Annecy was taken from the police station where he was being held to appear before a judge on Saturday.

Images from BFM showed the suspect being transported by police on a stretcher to a black car that was waiting at the rear of the police station.
Images from Reuters showed the black car leaving the police station alongside several other police vehicles.

Later on Saturday, the prosecutor in Annecy who is overseeing the investigation into the attack on Thursday was scheduled to hold a press conference.
The attempted murder of the suspect, a 31-year-old Syrian refugee, is being looked into.

The prosecutor has stated that there is currently no proof that the attacker was motivated by terrorism.
