New Delhi: Suzuki Motor Corporation has unveiled its technology strategy for the next decade, emphasizing lightweight body structures and small batteries for its models, including electric vehicles, in various markets like India.

Suzuki, which holds a significant 58% stake in Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s leading car manufacturer, aims to enhance its 'HEARTECT' lightweight and safety body. This evolution will prioritize reducing energy consumption through weight reduction.

The company’s strategy highlights the benefits of compact and light vehicles, which not only lower CO2 emissions during usage but also conserve resources and reduce CO2 emissions during production.

For electric and hybrid vehicles, Suzuki plans to offer the most energy-efficient options tailored to the renewable energy ratios and usage conditions of each country. The focus will be on developing electric vehicles with minimal energy consumption by integrating small, efficient electric units and lightweight batteries.

Regarding internal combustion engine vehicles, Suzuki has introduced a high-efficiency engine, the Z12E Engine, in 2023. The company plans to expand this engine globally to further reduce energy consumption using carbon-neutral fuels and next-generation hybrids.

In the realm of software-defined vehicles (SDV), Suzuki aims to create affordable systems that enhance vehicle value by minimizing energy consumption. The company will streamline software updates with a combination of wired and wireless (OTA) updates and will reduce costs by sharing hardware and reusing software.

Looking forward, Suzuki is committed to a circular economy by designing products for easy disassembly, recycling, and reuse, ensuring minimal resource usage.
