Lucknow: Swami Prasad Maurya's derogatory remarks on the Hindu holy book Ramcharitmanas have created a rift within the Samajwadi Party (SP). SP MLA from Gauriganj Sadar seat Rakesh Pratap Singh has criticized the statement of the party's MLC Swami Prasad Maurya. SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh said that those making derogatory statements about Ramcharitmanas can neither be Socialist nor Sanatani.

He said that, whoever makes indecent statements regarding religion and beliefs, I will be the first to oppose him, no matter who he is. Whether politics is there or not, whether I remain MLA or not, whether I get a ticket or not, but I will continue to serve you as a common man. SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh said that only a person who follows the ideals of Ram Manohar Lohia can be a real socialist.

He further said that Ram Manohar Lohia had proposed Ram Mela. Making false statements without thinking anything is painful for Sanatan Dharma. In fact, on February 5, Shriram Katha was organized at Ranjay Inter College ground in Gauriganj. SP MLA from Gauriganj Rakesh Pratap Singh had strongly opposed the derogatory remarks made by his own party leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Shri Ramcharitmanas.

SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh said that anyone commenting on the character of Shri Ram can neither be Sanatani nor a Socialist. He can just be a strange creature. Whenever someone acts to attack the character of Ram or the beliefs of religion, I will first stand against him. It is my misfortune that he is the leader of my party and is representing my party. May God give wisdom to the person who said this.
