The latest shortest limited-overs cricket tournament with just 10 overs each side, going by the name T10 Sharjah, kicked off on Thursday, in Sharjah with players from England, India, Pakistan, West Indies, and Bangladesh as well. With only former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag featuring in the tournament and rightly so as he’s one of the most fearsome batsmen, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir is delighted to play alongside him for the Maratha Arabians side.

Amir opened up on the prospect of sharing the dressing room and indeed the field with Sehwag saying, “No doubt it will be fun. Viru bhai is one of the greatest players to have played for India and it would be a wonderful experience to play alongside him."

“For me, the most challenging thing in this tournament would be the new ball because there are only 10 overs and the ball will not get old, and it will come on nicely onto the bat. But I feel the conditions, because they are late night matches, so maybe it could favour the bowlers a bit. But I feel it would be enjoyable cricket,” he added.

In the first match of the T10 cricket league between Maratha Arabians and Pakhtoons, the Arabians lost the match by 25 runs as they could only manage 96/7 in their 10 overs while chasing 122.

Shahid Afridi was judged the man of the match for his brilliant hat-trick that saw his team home while England’s Alex Hales starred for Maratha with his unbeaten knock of 57.
