New Delhi: Spinner Sunil Narine will not be included in the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup even after a stellar performance for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the UAE leg of the IPL. Narine took 4 wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday and also batted brilliantly.

Sunil Narine has taken 11 wickets in 8 matches in IPL matches in UAE but has not played a single international match since August 2019. That is why defending champions West Indies have not included him in the squad for the World Cup. The ICC deadline for making changes to the team expires on Friday. Captain Kieron Pollard has said, 'If I talk about the reasons for not including him in the team, it can be distorted.' He added, 'It's better to focus on the 15 players we have right now. It's more important to us. We have to work on whether we can defend our title with these players.''

Pollard further said, ''I don't want to comment on it. Because a lot has been said on it. I think the reasons for not including Narine in the team were explained only then. Personally, I consider Sunil Narine a good friend before an international cricketer. We grew up playing together. He's a world-class player.''
