Sushmita Sen is one of the most loved actresses in Bollywood. The actress has worked in various Bollywood movies and The OTT platforms gave her a new platform to present her in different characters.

Sushmita took to her social media handle and announced her new web series. The actress revealed that she will portray the role of Shreegauri Sawant, a transgender activist in Taali. Sharing the first look, Sushmita captioned it, “Taali - बजाऊँगी नहीं, बजवाऊँगी ! (won't clap, will ask others to clap). Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!!”. “Here’s to life & to everyone’s right to live it with dignity!!! (hand folded emoji) I love you guys!!! #duggadugga.” She used the hashtags #firstlook as #ShreegauriSawant on it.

As soon as it catches the eyes of people they started commenting on it. Her  sister-in-law Charu Asopa   wrote, “Wowww… First look is awesome.. so proud of you didi. looking forward …love you didi. One of her fans commented, “you just nailed the look.” Another fan wrote, “Oh my god!! More power to you always.”

Speaking about  Gauri Sawant on whom the web series is based. She was seen on Kaun Banega Crorepati season 9 and was supported by Usha Uthup to raise money to build houses for sex workers. Gauri Sawant is a transgender activist from Mumbai. She has been featured in Vicks's ad as a transgender mother who raised an orphaned girl to break the stereotypical representation of third gender. 

On the work front, Sushmita Sen made her debut in the industry in the 1996 film, Dasta and has starred in many movies like Biwi No.1, Aaghaaz, Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta, Samay: When Time Strikes, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?
