Srinagar: The TADA court in Jammu has on Tuesday postponed the hearing against separatist leader and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik in the case of killing four Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel in Jammu and Kashmir. The court has allowed Malik to appear before the court through video conferencing.
It is noteworthy that Yasin Malik and his associates were accused on January 25, 1990, of shooting and killing 22 air force officers in Sanat Nagar area of Kashmir and injuring 22 people. In August 1990, the CBI filed a charge sheet against the owner and his associates in the TADA court in Jammu, whose hearing was stayed by a single bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in 1995 that since there is no TADA court in Kashmir, hence Hearing of this case cannot be held in Jammu.
Let me tell you that after almost thirty years now the permission has been given to hear the case. Yasin Malik is currently lodged in Tihar Jail under the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the terror funding. On September 11, the court had directed the CBI counsel in the previous appearance to instruct Malik to appear in the TADA court in Jammu.
