Tripura High Court bans animal sacrifice, state government reaches Supreme court against verdict

Agartala: The government of Tripura has reached the Supreme Court against a decision of the High Court. A bench of Tripura High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodha gave the order on Friday while hearing a PIL. Now the Tripura government is going to the Supreme Court against this decision.

In fact, the High Court has said in its order that no animal or bird will be allowed to be sacrificed in the premises of any temple within the state. The court has directed the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to ensure the implementation of the decision. On Tuesday, Tripura Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath has said that "This is a very sensitive case, so our government has decided to file a special leave petition in the top court". He said that a similar case of Himachal Pradesh Government is pending in the Supreme Court.

Let us tell you that animals are sacrificed on a large scale in the two main temples of Tripura and Devi Tripureswari temple and Chaturdas Devta temple, which are the centre of people's faith. While some people have said that the Tripura government should appeal against this decision.
