Taipei: Taiwan has signed an agreement with an American company to buy 66 fighter jets due to the growing deadlock with China. It is being told that this deal may increase China's concern. These aircraft are more powerful than the fighters purchased three decades ago. Taiwan has older 150 F-16 fighter jets which was approved by the then President George Bush. Now Taiwan will get these fighter jets with new technology.
However, China may protest by rejecting the deal, as China has always claimed Taiwan. Earlier, it has been opposing the arms deal to Taiwan. The plan related to this new deal was announced on Friday, which was to be approved for the first time in 2019. Now this deal will be completed by the end of 2026. Under the announcement, 90 jets will be sold to Taiwan, which have been signed. Taiwan is steadily increasing its strength in view of tensions with China.
Last year, the Chinese Foreign Ministry requested Washington not to sell fighter jets to Taiwan as well as to stop selling arms with Taiwan in future. Beijing also threatened Washington with the consequences. China has been constantly eyeing Taiwan. earlier, China had sent its fighter aircraft towards the Taiwan border, but after seeing the missiles of Taiwan, all the Chinese fighter aircraft ran away.
