CHENNAI: M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, congratulated Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran on his appointment as the Chief Economic Advisor on Saturday.
"I join my fellow Tamils in conveying our good wishes to Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, the new Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) at the Ministry of Finance, who will be joining an illustrious list of other Tamils overseeing our country's economy," Stalin said in a statement issued today. Nageswaran was named as the CEA by the central government on Friday.
In 1983, Nageswaran received his bachelor's degree from American College in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and went on to get a post-graduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, as well as a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Nageswaran has worked as a writer, author, teacher, and consultant in the past. He has taught at a number of business colleges and management institutes in India and Singapore, as well as published widely. From 2019 to 2021, he was also a part-time member of India's Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council.
