Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin inspected the Unified Command Centre (UCC) set up here to deal with corona infection cases and spoke to a man demanding a bed in the hospital over phone. The government said in a press release on Friday night that UCC works round the clock and Stalin reviewed various tasks including provision of oxygen for private hospitals and provision of beds for covid-19 patients in government and private hospitals.
During the centre's inspection, CM Stalin also picked up a phone in which a man from the city was demanding a bed in the hospital and ordered the authorities to get him a bed at rajiv gandhi government general hospital here. Meanwhile, the total cases of corona have now increased to 243,72,907 after 326,098 new cases of corona infection were reported in a day from across the country. While the death toll has risen to 2,66,207 after 3,890 more patients died during this period.
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, the number of patients treating corona virus has fallen to 36,73,802, up from 15.07 per cent of the total infection cases. While the national rate of recovery from corona has improved to 83.83 per cent.
