Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM E Palaniswami will unveil a memorial to former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa at Marina Beach. The event, which is going to be held on 27th January, is expected to gather huge crowds. A budget of about Rs 80 crore has been spent on this memorial. The special part of this memorial is that its design is inspired by the coming of the 'legendary Phoenix Bird'.
Moreover, Jayalalithaa's memorial unveiling and a massive rally are being held on the same day that Sasikala is expected to come out of jail. The real purpose behind this monument is that it wants CM E Palaniswami to prove himself to be Jayalalithaa's real heir. It may be noted that the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are going to be held this year and this time the AIADMK and the BJP are contesting together.
Last week, Palaniswami had met PM Modi in Delhi to strengthen his position in Tamil Nadu and his party. Palaniswami had then said that her party was going to form a government in the state again. When questioned about her inclusion in the party after the release of former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa's close VK Sasikala from jail, she said there was no opportunity, she was not in the party.
