Tamil Nadu Colleges to reopen, attendance optional

Tamil Nadu is all to reopen medical colleges for both undergraduate and postgraduate students from today December 7, 2020. Apart from the Medical Colleges, Tamil Nadu Government has also extended permission to degree colleges to reopen for the undergraduate final year students. Earlier colleges had reopened for the postgraduate students.

While this time the colleges would reopen, the attendance has been kept optional. Colleges would continue online classes for students who do not wish to attend the classes physically. The guidelines and SOPs as released in regards to safety measures would be followed. The first-year classes for undergraduate courses would begin on February 1, 2020. Hostels with limited capacity are also allowed to reopen from December 7, 2020. The students, however, are advised to check with the respective hostels. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami announced the decision to reopen last Monday. The colleges would be required to follow strict guidelines in regards to the sanitization of the classrooms as well as common areas. The number of students allowed to be attended in a classroom has been limited. College authorities have to ensure notices at prominent places informing students about the basic hygiene measures.

The colleges in Tamil Nadu for final year post-graduate students had reopened on December 2, 2020. The attendance at the colleges, stayed low as most students stay away.
