Tamil Nadu one of the worst hit by the deadly corona virus crossed the 7 lakh-mark today, October 22. With the new 3,077 cases it's total toll increases to 7,00,193. The number of death reported today is 45 increasing the death toll to 10,825. The state has touched 6 Lakh on October 1, 2020 within 22 days new 1 Lakh cases were reported. It took just a three week time to add another 1 lakh count.

On the same day, 81,259 samples and 79,821 people were tested, 4,314 people were discharged after treatment, the state stands with 34,198 active cases. Chennai records less than 900 cases also today, a total of 833 cases have been reported. The neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur reported 193, 99 and 170 cases respectively.

The Western districts that contributes about a quarter of cases reported daily also reports less number. Coimbatore reported 285 cases, Salem 140, Tirupur 155, Erode 80 and Namakkal 74 cases.According to the release by the Directorate of Public Health, Molecular lab at Karpagam Hospital in Coimbatore, Macro Diagnostic Lab in Chennai and Muthamil Hospital Molecular Lab in Tirunelveli, were recently approved for Covid testing.
