CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government is considering for the appointment of Vice Chancelleors. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said on Thursday that the state government will introduce a resolution in the assembly during the budget session to appoint Vice Chancellors of universities.
Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi responded to a point made by PMK leader G.K. Mani about unfilled Vice Chancellor vacancies in the state by saying that the state government has the right to appoint Vice Chancellors in many states.
Furthermore, Stalin stated that a resolution to this effect will be passed at the following budget session.
The Vice Chancellors of Tamil Nadu's universities are currently appointed by the state governor.
