Chennai: The Tamil Nadu police have released a woman who was accused of killing her husband. The police have termed it as a step in self-defence. The wife had killed her husband by hammering him on the head. The deceased husband was accused of drinking alcohol and beating up the accused wife and trying to sexually exploit his own daughter. The incident took place on Thursday (January 27).
According to media reports, the accused woman is 41 years old. In the same case, her daughter, who is 20 years of age, was also charged. The deceased alcoholic husband used to ask his wife for money for alcohol every day. When he didn't find it, she was beaten. On the day of the incident, the deceased had also tried to rape his daughter. During that scuffle, the woman stabbed her husband in the head with a hammer. The woman had informed her neighbours about it.
The neighbours reported the incident to the police. Police took the woman and her daughter into custody. Initially, the police had registered a case under Section 302 against the accused. But later, keeping in view the facts that came to light during the investigation, the police showed humanity. The police are now taking action in the matter under IPC Section 100. The woman and her daughter have been released. According to the police, the woman will no longer be arrested in this crime again.
