Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has proposed to open schools for students from class 9th to 12th from September 1. At the same time, medical colleges in the state have been allowed to reopen from August 16. State CM MK Stalin took the decision after reviewing the situation in view of the slight increase in corona infection cases in the state.
It is worth noting that medical experts have expressed the need to reopen schools, as students have been locked up in the house for months because they are reportedly experiencing mental stress. CM Stalin issued a statement saying it was also creating distances in teaching in society. He said that at the same time, online education has not reached many children. CM Stalin further said, ''Considering suggestions from various sections, it has been proposed that classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th should be opened with half capacity from September 1 following the standard concerning all protocol of coronavirus.''
CM Stalin said the school education department has been asked to start preliminary work in this regard. He said medical colleges, nursing institutions, and affiliated institutions can start functioning from August 16. He said that teachers and students of these institutions have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
