Chennai: Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan had visited a government hospital in Chennai on Thursday. Here he inspected the facility of installing additional beds with oxygen assistance for the treatment of corona patients. Talking to the media, he said that the Tamil Nadu government has taken a historic decision to allow retail ing of Remdesivir to about 3,000 people, but the demand is still low.

Tamil Nadu Health Secretary has said that it is not a "magic medicine". Only 30 percent of people need it. Radhakrishnan said the allocation of remedesivir injection to Tamil Nadu is equivalent to 59,000 vials a week. 3,000 people buy it daily, so we'll be able to sell 18,000 injections in just six days. So there is no shortage of injections nor need to be afraid of any kind of deficiency.

He said the government can take action against private doctors who are going against the protocol spelt out by senior doctors in Tamil Nadu. The health secretary said don't spread any rumours. While supporting the government's move to break the link to corona infection, he said that it is very important to follow the mask as well as the physical distance. The coming 10 days are very important, so people should avoid going unnecessary, and they also appealed to people to stay indoors.
