Many companies have shown interest in this year after the announcement by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to start 150 private trains. Within the last ten days, proposals of all major domestic and foreign companies have started coming to the Railway Ministry.

After the Modi government's proposal to run private trains on 150 railway routes, more than two dozen companies have sent their proposals to the ministry. Domestic companies Tata Reality, Hitachi India, Adani Ports, and Essel Group have expressed interest to run private trains. Foreign companies are also going to join the race to run private trains. International well-known companies such as Astom Transport, Bombardier, Siemens, Hoodai and Macquarie have also offered private services in the country.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said during the budget session of Parliament that the Tejas train service has been started under the PPP model. The central government will expand the PPP model to increase railway speed. There are plans to run 150 new trains under this.
