In a recent rival, Tata Altroz, the upcoming flagship hatchback from Indian automaker, is finally reaching our shores. While the launch and unveil dates are still not known, Tata teased the vehicle yesterday on social media and this had made us to believe that the Altroz could make its debut in India in a few months from now. Tata Altroz, named aftert albatross bird, was first revealed as a concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. Back then, it was code-named Tata 45X. And then, the automaker also brought the vehicle to the Geneva Motor Show 2019 and gave us a better look at its production avatar.

To be noted that in terms of its design, the Altroz is the second car in Tata's line-up, after the Harrier, to make use of its Impact Design 2.0 design language. This design language has lend many quirky elements to the Altroz along with various creases and character lines. At the front, it features large swept-back headlamps,  'Humanity Line' under the grille and even large fog lamps. Along the sides there is a low shoulder running along the length of the car. At the rear, it gets horizontally mounted tail lights with LED treatment and a well-designed bumper. On the inside, the Altroz is likely to get black and grey interior with a floating touchscreen infotainment system as seen on the Nexon.

It is worth mention here that the Altroz will be the first car in Tata's line-up of be underpinned by the new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture. This architecture supports different powertrains, including petrol, diesel and is compatible with electric powertrain as well. So, we there will also be an electric Altroz coming our way, but perhaps by the end of this year. For now, let's talk about the powertrain on the regular Tata Altroz. The upcoming hatchback from Tata will likely make use of the 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the Tata Nexon and even the Tata Tiago. The diesel powertrain will be the 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq engine that does duties on the Nexon. There has been no hinting at the power figures, but we can expect them to be on par with other cars in the segment. And given how aggressive Tata has been with its pricing ( Nexon and Harrier are good examples here), we expect the Altroz to bear a very competitive price tag. When launched, the Tata Altroz will lock horns with the rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and Volkswagen Polo.
