Tata Consumer Products Ltd  on Thursday announced its entry into the honey and preserves segment by extending its premium water brand Himalayan into the sector.

Himalayan, a popular water brand, enjoys significant equity among consumers as it is natural mineral water bottled directly from the source in the foothills of the Himalayas with strong sustainability credentials, Tata Consumer said.

The FMCG division of the Tata group stated in a statement that "both of these new product offers are being sourced from the Himalayan belt, in line with the brand attributes."  With this introduction, the company expands into new product categories and makes a number of high-end stores across India available to consumers.

Himalayan preserves are produced by hand in small quantities with fruit from the Himalayas and are sourced from companies to helping local communities.

These would be available in 5 flavours viz. strawberry, apricot, black cherry, apple cinnamon and three fruit marmalade with no added flavours or preservatives, the company said in a statement.

The pricing of the new line of preserves is Rs 425 for a 450-gm bag, while the price of the 250-gram container of Himalayan honey will be Rs 300. The consumer products division of Tata Chemicals and Tata Global Beverages were combined to establish TCPL, which has a reach of more than 201 million households. With operations in both domestic and foreign markets, it has a combined yearly turnover of Rs 12,425 crore.
