Shimla: After government employees in the state of Himachal Pradesh, taxpayers and entrepreneurs working in the private sector are excluded from the list of people who get cheap ration. Regarding this, the Food Civil and Consumer Affairs Department has asked the taxpayers records from the Income Tax Department. The government is estimating that their number in the state may be more than three lakhs. With the elimination of their subsidy, other APL consumers will get more ration.

According to information received from the Food Civil and Consumer Affairs Department, there were 18.5 million ration card consumers in the state. Out of these, one and a half lakh government employees have been stopped getting cheaper ration from this month. Now other taxpayers are being excluded from this facility. Food supply minister Rajendra Garg said that taxpayers in the private sector are also being excluded from the list of receiving cheap rations.

Also, their records are being collected. The flour and rice of APL consumers may increase. Some of the APL consumers have also been included in the category of poor. These poor people are already being given 35 kg ration by the government. This ration will be increased for APL consumers. This will increase the ration of consumers and exclude taxpayers and entrepreneurs. Also, poor consumers will get benefit from it.
