'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan': FICCI to adopt one lakh TB patients

NEW DELHI:  The "Tuberculosis (TB) Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" has the support of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), which on Tuesday announced its commitment to adopt one lakh TB patients. 

The FICCI has committed to adopting one lakh Tuberculosis patients using the combined resources of its members and to assist the government by becoming Ni-kshay Mitras. This was announced following a meeting between the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Health Services Leadership and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

"FICCI urges to adopt one lakh TB patients with the combined resources of its members and support the government in The Tuberculosis Mukt Bharat Abhigyan," the federation wrote in a tweet following a meeting with Dr. @mansukhmandviya, Minister @MoHFW INDIA.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu announced the commencement of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on September 9 in an effort to revive the objective to eradicate TB from the nation by 2025.

At the End TB Summit in March 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a call of action to eradicate tuberculosis in the nation five years before the SDG objective of 2030.

The goal of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is to envision all community stakeholders in order to help those receiving TB treatment and accelerate the nation's progress toward TB eradication.
