Many people of the tea tribe community have received financial assistance at the Koilamari Tea Estate in North Lakhimpur. The tea tribe received the financial aid under the Assam Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela.

Lakhimpur MP Pradhan Baruah distributed copies of sanctioned amounts to the beneficiaries during a ceremonial distribution of the third phase of CBDPM held at the Koilamari Tea Estate on Thursday.

The CBDPM  was launched in 2017-2018 to bring tea labourers closer to the banking sector and thus promote cashless transactions. The Assam government had introduced the scheme to extend the fruits of demonetization to people of the tea community, who had opened their bank accounts during the period of demonetization by crediting an amount of Rs. 2,500 in each of their accounts. A total of 6,58,250 tea garden workers had opened their bank accounts during that period.
