DAKSHINA KANNADA: A teacher in Karnataka was given a life sentence by a fast track court for engaging in unnatural sex with a young student.
The decision was made on Wednesday against the 33-year-old accused teacher Prithviraj, who allegedly sexually assaulted the young child between August 1, 2014, and September 2, 2016, by Judge Manjula Itti of the Mangaluru Fast Track Special Court-1.
In accordance with section 6 of the POCSO Act, the judge sentenced him to life in jail and assessed an rs. 25,000 fine.
The victim was also awarded Rs 1 lakh in compensation by the court.
The victim informed the authorities that Prithviraj had compelled him to engage in an unnatural behaviour, and the Surathkal police station filed a case against the suspect.
Investigations have shown that the accused threatened to fail the victim if he didn't come to the residence and compelled the victim to do so.
The youngster was forewarned by Prithviraj not to tell anyone about the situation.
However, the victim's injuries to his privates led to a trip to the clinic, where it was discovered that he had been the victim of a sexual assault.
He told the doctor and his parents about the experience while he was receiving treatment.
The suspect was detained by the police, who also filed a charge sheet against him.
