Khan's recent statement targeted the central government, saying, "These governments are trying to see and show everything differently. This has been doing the same for the past five years across the country. Whether it's sports, cultural events, whether it's education, you'll find that when the Modi government is in power, a different trend has begun.

The Congress MLA said that the beginning of saffronism is very unfortunate. To this day, all the governments in the country have worked to promote sports, culture, though the present government is insisting on saffronisation which has also threatened the unity, integrity of the country," said Shiv Sena leader Minister of State, Gulabrao Patil. "Team India's orange-colored jersey is being politicized unnecessarily.
