Technical Glitch disrupts Chennai Metro Rail services to airport

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metro Rail Limited on Friday, 3 March 2023, has temporarily suspended the metro route between Chennai Central to Chennai airport due to technical glithces.

Chennai Metro Rail has said in a statement that the technical team is on the site resolving the issue. They have also advised passengers to disembark and change trains at Alandur so as to reach airport. 

“Due to technical glitches, intercorridor trains between Central & Airport are suspended atpresent. The Metro Rail  technical team is on the site resolving the problem. Passengers are advised to disembark and change trains at Alandur in order to reach airport. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.", chennai metrol said in a tweet.
Metro Rail  has also stated that train movement in Blue line from Wimco Nagar to Airport will also be normalised shortly. 

Many irate travellers took to Twitter to vent their anger and a few  commented on the topic and claimed that it is causing them a lot of problems. Awful, one user wrote. There is a huge crowd waiting to board the trains. People are currently moving in the blue line." "Metro is functioning with total inefficiency, leaving many people stuck today owing to an unscheduled halt of service,"  Already at a low level, with no lessons learned in frequency. To make others suffer is their motto," commuters remarked.

The number of commuters who used the Chennai metro during the month of February was disclosed by CMRL on March 1. In February, 66,69, 282 people travelled overall, up from 66,07, 458 in January. In addition, it stated that 2,61,668 people used the metro on February 10 for the most passenger volume ever.
