Passengers on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Goa experienced significant delays at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Saturday, leaving many frustrated and stranded.
Technical Snag Causes Delay
SpiceJet's flight SG-211, initially scheduled to depart at 9:35 AM, was delayed due to a technical issue with the aircraft. The airline stated that operational reasons forced the grounding of the scheduled plane.
Multiple Rescheduling
Passengers reported that the flight was rescheduled multiple times throughout the morning. The departure time was first moved to 10:35 AM, then to 11:00 AM. However, even at 11:00 AM, the flight had not taken off. Airline staff later informed passengers that the flight would now depart at 4:00 PM.
Passenger Frustration
Many passengers, including families with senior citizens and children, expressed their frustration over the lack of arrangements made by the airline. One passenger highlighted the inconvenience, stating, "We have hotel bookings and other plans in Goa, but everything is ruined because of SpiceJet. Last-minute flight tickets with other airlines are very expensive, making it unfeasible for us to purchase for eight people."
Lack of Refreshments
Passengers also complained about the lack of refreshments provided during the long wait. They were told that a flight arriving from Jammu at 3:35 PM would then depart for Goa at 4:00 PM.
SpiceJet's Response
In an official statement, SpiceJet apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that the delay was due to operational reasons caused by a technical snag. "An alternate aircraft is being arranged to operate the flight. Passengers are being served refreshments. Inconvenience caused to the passengers is deeply regretted," the airline said.
Impact on Travel Plans
The delay significantly impacted the travel plans of many passengers, who were left with no viable alternatives due to high costs and lack of available seats on other flights.
