Patna: Leader of the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday showed an aggressive approach to strengthen his hold among the politically important Bhumihar community in the state. His attempt was made to increase the base of his party, which is mainly identified with the Muslim-Yadav combination that was started by Tejashwi's father Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Please tell that Tejashwi Bhumihar was speaking at the Parashuram Jayanti celebrations organized by Brahmin Ekta Manch. Many other senior leaders including Bhakta Charan Das, state in-charge of All India Congress Committee also attended the function. Tejashwi Yadav said that our party has been the victim of a malicious campaign that we oppose certain caste groups and benefit others.

The Bhumihars, a sub-caste of Brahmins, have the largest population in Bihar, where they have tremendous political and economic clout. After the end of the Mandal era, his authority decreased, due to which he is considered angry. This led to the rise of OBC leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav and his rival Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has remained in the post of CM for more than one and a half decade. He made a symbolic reference to the issues of discord in the ruling NDA and referred to the dispute between the CM and the Speaker of the Assembly, Vijay Kumar Sinha. He said that it has never happened in the history of Bihar or any other state that the speaker of the assembly has been insulted like this. Sinha himself is a Bhumihar Brahmin. However, Tejashwi did not mention the caste of Nitish or Sinha.
