As several schools and hostels in the state turned Covid-19 hotspots recently, while the Spike in Covid cases forced the Telangana govt on Tuesday to announce that it is temporarily shutting down schools from Wednesday.
Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy made the announcement in the Assembly that “Keeping in view such fears and requests from the parents, we have decided to close all the educational institutions in the state temporarily from Wednesday to curb the virus spread,” Reddy stated on Tuesday.
She said the govt decided to shut down schools in the interest of students and teachers and also keeping in view the requests from the parents. She said the decision was taken as a measure to prevent Covid.
The decision would apply to all the schools, colleges, hostels in the government and private sector, except the medical colleges.
On March 22, in the wake of the Covid-19 case spurt especially in the educational institutions, Andhra Pradesh school education minister Adimulapu Suresh has announced the commencement of half-day schools in the state from 1 April.
