The Telangana government is promoting development through approved layouts with the objective of promoting planned development of urban areas in the state and promoting the development of integrated townships through public and private initiative. This is called the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS).
The High Court has issued notices to the government on the regulation of illegal layouts. The 'Forum for Good Governance' has filed a petition in the Telangana High Court on the LRS issue. The High Court took up the hearing on Thursday. The petitioner argued to the court that the LRS was against several laws. The petitioner asked the court to issue interim orders to be subject to the final verdict. However, the High Court has clarified that the government cannot give orders without knowing the attitude of the government. The government has been instructed to file a counter. The court posted the next hearing to October 8.
The Telangana government on Thursday issued orders to amend The Geo 131 to regulate lands (LRS) based on the market value of registration without financial burden on the poor and middle classes. LRS charges will be charged based on the current market value. The market value will be applied at the time of registration as promised by Ketiar in the Assembly. CSE has issued orders to reduce the regularization charges slightly. The old LRS scheme will be charged equal to 2015.
