Telangana initiates serosurvey to assess spread of Covid in the community

HYDERABAD: Telangana's government and the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition initiated a state-wide SARS COV-2 serosurvey on Tuesday. The survey will be done among the general public and healthcare staff in all Telangana districts, with the goal of determining the extent of the infection's community spread.

According to Dr Avula Laxmaiah, Scientist G and Head, Public Health Nutrition Division, ICMR-NIN, who is leading the survey, the sero-prevalence will be determined by examining SARS Cov-2, IgG antibodies in blood samples collected from the general public and Health Care Workers (HCW) across the districts.

The house-to-house survey will take place in 330 villages across the state's 33 districts and many wards. This survey has the endorsement of the state government. ICMR-NIN collaborates with the state health department and other administrative departments
